The ideal Coursebook for young learners

Teachers often spend a lot of time creating their own materials in order to meet specific instructional needs not covered in the coursebook they are using, or to make their lessons more exciting and appealing to students. What would a coursebook be like if it actually incorporated all these creative ideas and materials? (Hands-on activities, interactive whiteboard material, etc.)

Teaching teenagers: Turning a challenge into a golden opportunity

‘Mother Nature is providential. She gives us 12 years to develop a love for our children before turning them into teenagers.’ Many ELT teachers share this negative view of teenagers that is reflected in the quote above and complain that adolescents are the hardest group to teach. Yet, as some second language acquisition research shows, teenagers are at an ideal age to learn languages. In this session we will explore what makes teaching teenagers challenging and suggest ways in which we can tap into teenagers’ abundant energy and create optimal conditions for language learning.

Incorporating new technology in the classroom: a transformation in learning and teaching
In recent years, technology has become more accessible to teachers and the use of technological aids has become a common feature in the EFL classroom. In this session, the potential that the latest technology has to offer to students and teachers alike is discussed, and participants are presented with practical tips and ideas so that they can make the best use of technology in their classes. The pedagogical and educational benefits of using new technologies in teaching and learning English will be further illustrated through the demonstration of the state-of-the-art components and course features of MM Publications' material.

Effie Zaimis
Zaimis Efi was raised in the USA and was educated in the US and Europe. She completed Master's degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. She is a practicing EFL teacher teaching learners of all ages and levels. She is now working as an ELT consultant for MM Publications. She has made presentations at various conferences around the world.

Kostas Paixos
Kostas Paixos Born in Montreal, Canada, he completed his Bachelor and Master’s degree in English Literature at Concordia University, Canada. He has had extensive experience in teaching English as a foreign language in Europe. He is involved in teacher’s training. He has also worked with MM Publications as an editor, ELT consultant and teacher trainer.
